Randolph Technical Center offers embedded English Language Arts and Mathematics credit in some of its career and technical education programs. ELA or Math content is integrated into the curriculum of the CTE program, allowing students to earn academic credits while engaging in hands-on, practical learning experiences. For example, students who successfully complete the Carpentry program can earn a Transition Mathematics for Seniors credit. This initiative is supported by the West Virginia Department of Education (Policy 2510) and involves certified Math and Language Arts teachers to align skill sets with academic standards.
The ELA component typically focuses on enhancing literacy, communication, and analytical skills, relevant to the technical subjects being studied. The Math credits involve applying mathematical concepts and problem-solving skills in real-world contexts, directly related to the career and technical training provided. This approach not only meets the academic requirements but also enhances the relevance and application of core subjects in career and technical settings.

Meet the Instructors
Hello! I am Summer Grose, the ELA Embedded Credit Instructor at Randolph Technical Center. I have an MA from Wayne State University and earned my teaching credentials via Marshall University. Additionally, I have over 10 years of experience teaching ELA, ESL, and Arabic language to students locally and abroad. These experiences help me tailor ELA instruction to complement and enhance the students' hands-on technical learning, ensuring they meet academic standards.

Hello! I am Robin Davis, the Math Embedded Credit instructor at Randolph Technical Center. I have over 30 years of experience teaching mathematics to students at all levels of their educational journeys. My goal is to ensure that students not only grasp mathematical principles but also understand how to apply these skills in real-world technical scenarios.
