Governor’s Workforce Credential
The Governor’s Workforce Credential (GWC) signifies a student’s knowledge of business processes within a Simulated Workplace environment. The West Virginia Governor endorses only the state's top career technical education (CTE) completers for their academic achievements, technical training, and work readiness. |
Students who have completed a state-approved CTE Program of Study must successfully meet the following
criteria to obtain the Governor’s Workforce Credential:
I. Academics*
II. Certifications**
III. Technical Skills**
IV. Attendance***
V. Drug Screenings***
*This criterion must be met throughout the student’s high school career.
**This criterion must be met during the student’s program of study.
***This criterion must be met during the student’s graduating year.
criteria to obtain the Governor’s Workforce Credential:
I. Academics*
- Maintains a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better.
II. Certifications**
- Secure a minimum of one state-approved industry certification.
III. Technical Skills**
- Meet the Governor’s Workforce Credential cut-score on the respective state-approved CTE program of study technical assessment; and,
- Achieve a minimum score of 95% on the CTE portfolio.
IV. Attendance***
- Attain a verified school attendance rate of 95% or higher in all senior course work (in accordance with Every Student Succeeds Act-ESSA).
V. Drug Screenings***
- Pass a minimum of two documented drug screenings, not less than 30 days apart.
